CROATIA NEW CENTRAL EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS

Croatia yesterday confirmed itself as an emerging force in Australian Rules Football as it comfortably beat all opposition in the Central European AFL Championship held in Zagreb.

Austria and the Czech Republic journeyed down to the Croatian capital in an attempt to grab the Central European title but the Croatian boys were simply too strong on the day and deservedly took the trophy. The ever growing interest in Aussie Rules in Croatia actually allowed the hosts to form 2 teams for the tournament!
The day kicked off with the game between Croatia ‘A’ and Austria. A 5 goal first half gave Croatia ‘A’ a 27 point lead at half time which was extended to 44 points at full time. Croatia ‘B’ then grabbed an early lead against the Czech Republic before running away with the game in the 2nd half to win by 56 points. The 2 Croatian sides met in the next game, with the ‘A’ side winning but it’s worth mentioning that the ‘B’ side actually ‘won’ the 2nd half! The Czech’s then led Austria by only 8 points at half time in what was the closest contest of the day. A strong 2nd half performance by the Czech’s saw them finish the game 21 points in front. Despite playing again after a very short break, the Austrians led for most of the first half in the game against Croatia ‘B’. The Croatians controlled the 2nd half though and ended up winning by 36 points. The final game of the day saw Croatia ‘A’ totally control the first half
against a tired Czech side, opening up a 76 point lead by half time. To their credit, the Czech’s increased their effort in the 2nd half to score 3 goals straight but Croatia ‘A’ won the game by 97 points.

Some nice weather, together with the BBQ and beer supplied by the hosts, allowed the spectators (and players) to enjoy the day and look forward to the next opportunity of playing Aussie Rules in Zagreb.

Sutra CEAFL (03.05.)

Sve je spremno za Central European Australian Football League. Prvi turnir je sutra, Zagreb je domacin i zeljeli bi da publika dodje u sto vecem broju. Prvi "ball up" je u 12. Igra se 6 utakmica - 2x15 minuta. Australska ambasadorica ce uruciti pehar pobjedniku a tada pocinje party. Australsko vino, domace pivo, DJ, rostilj i 60 ludih igraca "footy-ja" je dovoljan zalog da ce party biti dug i doar. Zato dodjite, upoznajte se sa novim sportom na ovim prostorima i uzivajte u dorboj atmosferi.

CEAFL priprema

Ovo je radna verzija postera za turnir (Marko, posalji mi logo tvoje firme da ga stavim dole). Jos ce se malo boje popraviti , izmjeniti par logosa ovisno o tome ko ostaje sponzor a ko dolazi kao novi... Ovim putem pozivam sve igrace koji su otisli u mirovinu ili su malo nekativni zadnjih mjeseci da se aktiviraju jer cemo na turniru imati dvije ekipe i fali nam jos 3-4 igraca da popounimo drugu ekipu.

Trening

Ovako dečki nema više zajebancije turnir nam je za 3 tjedna.Evo složili smo plan treninga.
Od ovog tjedna pa do daljnjega treninzi su UTORAK, ČETVRTAK, SUBOTA i NEDELJA u 17:00 na mladosti ako imamo sreće onda na rugbi igralistu ako ne onda na livadi kod DIFA.
SUBOTU i NEDELJU treninge će voditi trener Ćoto aka. Joža a od milja Ribica(Obavezni treninzi)
UTORAK i ČETVRTAK nazalost Joža je zauzet pa ćemo imati improvizacijski trening ali najvise ćemo raditi na pucanju na gol te dodavanjima rukom i nogom treninzi ce se odvijati na rugbi igralistu jer tada ragbijaši nemaju treninge.(Dobro je doci i na ove treninge pogotovo za nove klince:) )

Czech Lions quest for the title (and photo-shoot)

Ove godine Cesi se ozbiljno pripremaju za sezonu. Imaju dosta ljudi, treniraju na super terenu (rugby klub Slavija) i jednom tjedno imaju trcanje i plivanje. Ove godine ih ima vise nego prije. Ovo nije da nas prestrasim, nego da nas potaknem da radimo vise i bolje.
Ako otvorite ovo galeriju (http://gallery.mac.com/johngoddard#100008&bgcolor=black&view=grid) vidjet cete jos slika Lionsa koji su se slikali ispred Praskih landmarks. AFL ove godine slavi 150 godina igranja footyja i zamolio je sve klubove da se slikaju u dresovima na poznatim mjestima u svom gradu. Dali smo mi u mogucnosti napraviti isto? Da se svi skupimo jednu subotu ili nedjelju ujutro (za najbolje svijetlo to bi bilo oko 7 ujutro) i da naedjemo nekoga ko se bavi fotografijom da nas malo uslika, ne samo da posaljemo slike AFL-u nego i da imamo slike za sebe, da se mozemo profesionalno predstaviti (da ih stavite na facebook)... Dali neko zna nekog (polu)profesionalnog fotografa koji bi bo voljan to napraviti za nas.

I jos nesto, objavljujte ovdje i postove vezane za trening (sto vise novih postova to vise boljih reklama dodje na nas blog - skupljih) a onda i mi vise klikamo. Zagreb Giants softball je u 2 mjeseca generirao 148 dolara a mi sve skupa u 4 mjeseca zasad imamo samo 38. Zato svi se ukljucite u postavljanje postova ovdje (i klikanju reklama naravno)

Nabrijavanje na novu sezonu (AJMO PO ZLATO)

Evo Matija i ja od danas pocinjemo sa teninzima u teretani veslacki dom tresnjevka u Savskoj na Cvjetnom, Ujko tamo tenira vec nekoliko godina. Clanarina je 100 kn mjesecno i radis po programu jedino radno vrijeme je sad ograniceno jer mislim da veslaci imaju jos tamo zimske treninge ali navecer nemaju tako da prakticki svaki dan mozes doci i trenirati.To se jednino moram jos raspitati tj. pitat ujka (iako mi je reko 100 puta ja uvijek zaboravim).Onda imali zainteresiranih da pocnemo malo jacati nase tijelo pa pokazemo u BARCELONI tko je faca.I usput se malo druzimo.Mozemo kasnije na pivu :).

Ako ima neko neki drugi prijedlog slobodno recite (Cvele , Joža).

CROATIA DEFENDS CROWN

Croatia has retained the Tri-nations title by defeating a combined Austria/Czech line up at the
Croatia Open tournament in Zagreb on Saturday. Seven hours of constant rain meant the ground looked like it
was ready for a waterpolo match but the Croatian boys adapted quickly to open up a 32 point lead at quarter
time. The Knights increased the lead by half time and weathered a strong showing from the guests in the 3rd
quarter before storming home to a 77 point victory.

President unveils new logo at awards dinner

HAWTHORN Football Club president, Jeff Kennett, unveiled on Saturday night a new look for the Hawks in front of a sell-out audience of over 1300 at the 2007 Peter Crimmins Medal awards night.

The Hawks will play under the new logo in 2008, which displays a strong and determined Hawk, focused and ready to hunt.

The brave new shield represents an unwavering horizon for the club which has re-built itself both on and off the field to be one of the most exciting young and talented teams in the AFL, as well as one of the most professional administrative teams in Australian sport.

In 2007 the Hawthorn Football Club started the first of a five-year partnership with naming rights partner Tasmania.

This partnership, coupled with an exciting brand of attacking football, showed a bright future for the Hawthorn Football Club.

This promising future is reflected in the new design by renowned Australian design firm Cato Purnell Partners.

Cato Purnell have been responsible for some of Australia’s leading icons and brands, including the Commonwealth Bank, Medibank, Macquarie, Channel 7, MSAC Aquatic Centre, VB and Carlton Draught.

In creating a new direction for the Hawks, Cato Purnell Partners, under the guidance of Ken Cato, felt they needed to reflect the focus and determination he had observed within the club so as to communicate that effectively to its members.

“The new shield portrays a sense of determination, pride, and focus. The Hawthorn Football Club is a club on the move. In the design we have hoped to capture the steely resolve it takes to win a premiership. That is the clear ambition of the Hawks,” Mr Cato said.

Jeff Kennett was delighted to present the new logo to the Hawthorn faithful at the 2007 Peter Crimmins Medal.

“Hawthorn Football Club has gone through a transformation in recent years, rebuilding itself to be competitive in all areas of football.

“[Head coach] Alastair Clarkson and his coaching staff have done a terrific job of bringing together an exciting group of young talented footballers, who have shown in 2007 they can play an impressive style of finals footy.

“The new crest for our club symbolises the focus and determination of everyone involved with the Hawks; our players, our staff, our members and supporters, and our board,” Mr Kennett said.

“We have competed under our previous banner for 10 years and the club feels the time is right to regroup and be represented by this brave new look as we continue to grow both on and off the field.”

Hawthorn Football Club logo history
When Hawthorn joined the VFL in 1925, the initials HFC within a circle on a brown and gold flag was introduced as the logo. The club was known as the Mayblooms.

In 1943 the club was christened the Hawks when coach Roy Cazaly sought a more robust image. The new logo depicted a Hawk carrying a football in its talons flying in front of the Hawthorn Football Club flag.

A stronger and simpler version of the Hawk was adopted in 1948, and later depicted in 1952. In 1955 the flying Hawk carrying the football was reintroduced. This popular image became the face of the Hawks through the 1960s and 1970s when Hawthorn won four premierships.

To herald Hawthorn’s progressive publicity push in 1982, the new force of the 80s, a new logo was sought. The club approached Swinburne Institute where a student submitted the winning design, the stylised Hawk head.

This image represented the club’s most successful era with five premierships.

By the mid 1990s the club had endured the merger debate and the logo once more returned to the flying Hawk.

After 100 years at Glenferrie the club moved in 2006 to Waverley and now 2008 will herald a new era of success - under this Hawks logo.

Thanks to participating teams, for coming down to Zagreb and playing in such terrible condition. Also many people steped out and gave time and service to the club: Robert goyevic, for being my memory ( I would forget so many things if it wasn't for his checklist emails), Kreso for sorting accomodation, and about everyone else from the team for putting up posters, making Croatian Knights banner and I could go on and on. Thanks Ivan Peric for being a scorekeeper and Adam, Sunil and Robert for umpiring the game.
If it wasn't for rain this event would be vay better, but we are sure that next year we'll put up even better event with more teams and more beer.

After tournament party at Piranha Bar

After the tournament we'll have a party at the field with DJ Romano spinning some tunes. There will be BBQ and 100L of beer. After we finish off the supply we'll go crosstown and party at the famous Piranha Bar at Jarun lake. For the players entrance is free and there are few tables reserved for us. It's an upscale bar so dress accordingly.

Truly one of the places to be seen in Zagreb, Piranha Bar is where the city's young and beautiful come to play at night. Regularly playing host to some of the hottest and exclusive parties in town, it's definitely worth checking what's going on and when so you can have your photo face ready. Set out on Lake Jarun, a taxi or tram ride will be necessary but definitely worth the effort to make sure you arrive there sparkling. Go dancing among Zagreb's finest.

Dodjite i pogledajte kako Hrvati igraju Australski nogomet i kako im ni iskusni Australci nemogu stati na put. 3 sata uzbudljivih utakmica ce biti zacinjeno dobrom proslavom uz Australskog DJ-a, rostilj i Karlovacko. Ulaz besplatan, parking osiguran, a ako se i napijete bit ce designated drivers koji ce vas voziti doma.

Gledanje Hawks - Crows utakmice

DAkle u ponedjeljak u 8:30 kod mene je gledanje utakmice finalsa od ove godine izmedju Adelaide Crows i Hawthorn Hawks. Utakmica je puno zanimljivija od Grand Finala tako da vam nece biti dosadno. Ako Srpek dodje onda ce on doniti pive sta je ostalo od rostilja, a ako ne onda je BYOB (bring your own beer). Odgovorite ovdje ko moze doci.
Adresa je Drziceva 37 (plava tocka), a parking je u rapskoj. Na parlafonu pise Koracak/Vuk.

IMPORTANT - Grand Final Party

There are some trouble wiht the venue. They didn't get Setanta sport on time, and now we are trying our best to get it last minute. So please check back here before you leave for the party as I will post here the news. Either we'll get Setanta sport on time, or change venue (we need to talk to the manager of the other venue).

Pozdrav dječaci stvar je ovakva staraca nema a ja sam i zivim blizu centra 3-4 stanice od trga.Pošto u subotu ujutro imamo druzenje i gledanje AFL GF predlažem da svi koji misle i ne misle ici u petak van dojdu kod mene oko 11 ili 12 ili 1 ili 2 kad god na Pre AFL Grand final TULUM koji ce trajati sve do jutra i onda oko 5.45 ili 6.00 ici na tekmu.E sad javite mi koliko ce vas doci.Bilo bi super da skupimo pare pa da ja kupim cugu i grickalice(svako da 10, 20 kn) ranije jer u 11 vise ducani ne rade.
Pozovite prijateljice a ako nece ne brinite se jer cete moci uzivati u svakakvim drustvenim igrama: nikad nisam, postavi pitnje, cuganje, mega popularna igra koja vec traje godinama simon kaze, dan-noc, BELA, monopoly, rizik(ako nabavim), Pocker, briskula, ako vam se ni to ne svidja mozete se igrati s LEGO kockama ili slagati Puzzle, playstation 2(ako nabavim) itd.
